Almost August

This summer has been flying by (also hot as hell but still flying by). I managed to ride yesterday early so the heat was not too bad. Remus was pretty good and I got no media at all. Oops. I did get a new pair of boots via Facebook and I love them. They are Mountain Horse Sovereigns and a bit nicer than my regular Mountain Horse boots (that are alas in a storage facility in NJ right now).

Now I need to buy a helmet. Like as of yesterday. I just hate spending so much on a One K though I know in the scheme of things they are reasonable! Any favorite other helmets you guys like? Drop it in the comments if so.

Things are moving slowly at the old farmstead. I did get the rest of my big field cut by a neighbor so glad that is done. I didn’t realize I could see the pond from my front door. It has been that long since it was cut that close to the pond. I have some more tasks to get done by the handyman. I have a cleaning company coming this week to quote a deep clean and then follow up cleans.

I cleaned the minis’ stalls last night and blew the barn aisle clean and started work on cleaning up the feed room but had to stop due to dust and allergies. Baby steps.

It is hot still. This week not as bad but back to 99 I think by weekend real temp. We got a tiny bit of rain the other night but we probably need rain soon. We went from getting five inches every day to not getting much at all.

Remus is doing wonderful at Trinity and has a lease person now who rides him 2-3 times a week. He loves her almost as much as he loves me. That makes me happy. And him too.

Minis need to find a home. I have asked around and have a few people interested. Luna can just stay where she is till she gets a bit older and is ready to train.

We had our offer on the house in North Carolina accepted and now are waiting on quotes for some jobs that need to be done there.

It is in a neighborhood so good bye country life (Reverse Green Acres!!).

Never really dull is it??
Happy Monday!

  1. What a cute house! And hooray for no more barn chores. I really like my Tipperary Royal helmet but I also suffer from extra large head syndrome. The liner comes out really easily and makes for easy washing

  2. That is a handsome house, and I like those new boots of yours, too. Won’t be a terrible thing to have two nice pairs of boots once you eventually get your other ones out of storage! As an adult, I think the only types of helmets I’ve bought have all been Troxel helmets. I like that I can head to my local Tractor Supply and pick up a relatively cheap Troxel helmet if I need a new one in a pinch.

  3. Your new home is beautiful! Glad Remus is doing great and has a new buddy to keep him busy.
Charles Owen just came out with an affordable MIPS helmet called Kylo that might be worth trying. I do like the One K though!
