Happy Horse, Happy Heart

Work is still insane and life is still nuts. But my horse is pretty darn happy here in NC (and I will definitely ride him soon! The time change and the fact it is up in the 80s again made it a bit too crazy to try to ride during the week and then last weekend I was in Charlotte, and this weekend they are calling for rain).

But he is happy and shiny and finally starting to fuzz up a bit. Nothing is cuter than walking into a field with an apple and hear a whinny then watch Remus run toward you with absolute glee to see you. Do I kind of wish he had a friend, sure. Do I mind him not being buddy sour? NOT AT ALL! His dapples are on point this year too.

Major side eye as I was peering through from the hay stall and was not moving fast enough for him!

The plethora of hay choices here is flooring me. I have alfalfa, alfalfa timothy mix, orchard timothy mix, orchard alfalfa and so on. NO MORE BERMUDA (I don’t mind paying a bit more for GOOD hay rather than shitty grass weeds in TN). And the hay while of course is pricey is so clean I would almost eat it myself! Remus is not saying no to any of it. He is not as much a fan of the fescue mix I got but the orchard and timothy mixes he likes a lot and he gets a small amount of straight alfalfa as well since the grass is gone (Frost, no rain, and late Fall does that). But he looks in good weight. And hope he stays this way.

It is Fall y’all! For sure. (Or at least will be once this latest heatwave goes by). The colors are glorious on the leaves as well.
