Well That Was a Total Flop…

this jump gave me nightmares just driving by it each time!

Not a triumpant return to Event Camp for us. The drive to GA on Monday was intense, traffic-clogged, with road work everywhere. Remus stepped on his foot at one point and cut himself and even managed to hurt himself high up on the back end. I ended up not jumping at all but did ride in the dressage lessons. It was pretty hot so not saying I missed jumping.

kind of what Georgia highways look like!

Thursday am I was on the road before 6 determined to get my horse home before it got too hot or Georgia got too much road work/traffic in my way!! It worked. We were home by noon.

Merance’s cute pony Revy. Love her she is a Connemara/Hanovorian cross

I had a blast reconnecting with friends and also just hanging with my (lame) horse. Grazing him, and just spending time with him.

Tuesday am we rode with Waylon who said he thought Remus might need some chiro as it seemed quite high up but we worked on some things at the walk and Waylon was very pleased at Remus and his efforts to leg yield and turn on the forehand. I was off by 10ish so before the heat of the day. There was a photographer and yes I bought five photos of my lame ass horse walking in a lesson!!

Then since I was not riding in jumping I decided to jump in my truck and drive across Atlanta to see Luna. This is the first time I have seen her in about 8 months or so. So it was kind of fun.

She is bigger than she was last I saw her (DUH) and is turning into a solid citizen though she did show a few rebellions during her ride. AP is such a pro with her though.

Pretty sure Luna thinks every ride is a Hunger Games fiasco!

Wednesday am was an earlier start and Remus was full of himself that morning. So much that i put him on the lunge line for a few minutes. Good news he was pretty sound but I still only chose to do the walk lesson in dressage. Again a really good work done with Hannah with some spiraling and just getting him to do different varieties of walk. It was getting steamy by the time we were done and I quickly changed back into shorts and enjoyed my day of just watching and videoing friends’ rides.

We had a group photo on Wednesday night and then a Fajita party and ask the trainers Q and A. It was so much fun and I definitely recommend if you haven’t done it before, do it (but maybe just be sure your horse is not lame!!) HA!

Now to rest up and figure out a new trainer for Luna and also the vet will be out Thursday for Remus. Luckily he is sound up front now. Money? Who NEEDS IT? Not me….

  1. Professional photos of me on my horse at a walk- absolutely! I would totally do it. You showed up, practiced while keeping your horse’s limitations in mind and got some good instruction. That’s more than I did last week! Glad you got home safely, had good time with friends and got to visit Luna too.

  2. Oh man, Remus! I’m so sorry, that’s so disappointing. But I’m glad you still had fun! Fingers crossed you get him all figured out when the vet comes this week.
Luna is looking like a proper grown up! That’s probably why she does the shenanigans sometimes. Just so you don’t forget she’s still a baby horse.
