Still Hot and Humid…..No End in Sight!

BLECH Horses are not fun in the summer!! Ask me how I know!!

Luna went to her new trainer’s on Sunday. Well she almost didn’t go since she flat out refused to load. I loaded her myself as a yearling and figured she would walk right on. Nope. She was like not going. Being a pill about it too. (Sidebar: I am SO USED TO REMUS and how he loads, never even considered she was going to be a bit icky about it but her last two trailer rides were doozies from TN To GA and GA to NC so I get it!). Luckily some fellow boarders pulled up early to feed and once one of them was behind her we got her on and I left to take her. Mind you it was 20 minutes tops and 730 am and she was soaked and lathered when she got there. SEE ABOVE, it is so hot and humid it is gross.

She is getting a lot of exposure to different things there including chickens!! Her shoe is loose so we have a farrier coming out Friday to do her feet and then we can get going on training but she is still getting a lot of things done even with a loose shoe! She has worn a western saddle, dressage saddle, and even harness. Luna is like what the heck is going on!

her face says it all 🙂

Meanwhile back at the farm, Remus is over the heat as much as I am. I don’t even know his soundness level as it is never cool enough even in the am to take him to the round pen to check him out. I did watch him get down to roll the other day and it took him several tries but he got up fine. Hopefully we get a break soon in the heat and I can get his hocks done. Otherwise he is just chilling in front of his fan when it gets hot. I literally have no new photos of him. LOL OOPS.

me to the outside! daily…

Stay cool my friends.

  1. In the middle of summer, Mae has told me in no uncertain terms that she does NOT like the footing in the two covered arenas so we must ride in the outdoor unshaded arena where it’s at least 10 degrees hotter in the scorching TX sun… mares…

  2. Glad Luna is all moved in with the new trainer! Excited to watch her progress!

Hope it cools off for you guys soon. It’s been hot here too, but I’m fortunate to generally have a nice breeze at the farm.
