I swear this was supposed to post on Friday but I completely forgot about A) finishing it and B) scheduling it. So I suck 🙂
Saddle shopping is the worst thing ever but for once it was not too painful. EXCEPT FOR MY WALLET that will hurt a while. It hurt real bad!!
The saddle fitter came and palpated Finn and said his back was still tender but not too reactive. Then he measured him (And yay, Finn is even on both sides now so no shim is needed!). Then even though it was hot as the fires of hell we had to try some saddles.
He was a Custom rep and he also had some other saddles to try but we ended up trying three.
These were the three we tried:

So the first one we tried was the Monte Carlo. I liked it a lot but it kind of looked like a postage stamp on my horse. But it was very comfy.
Then we put the Fleur De Lys on Finn. Ummmm, my ass literally sang when I sat in that thing. Of course it should because the first one was a demo and this was a brand new saddle (Actually not that much diff in price but still!).
Then Joshua started talking about the Aviar saddle. It literally did not fit my horse and I hated the look of it so I didn’t even get on that saddle. Just said nope. And of course that one was about a thousand dollars cheaper. I am just a snob I am accepting this finally! LOL
I thought for like 10 seconds and was like F it, let me try the Fleur. Custom gives you a generous 10-day trial which is up this week SO I am buying a new saddle this week.
Finn likes it, I like it, and Lindsay likes it. So of course I could look for cheaper and/or used. But Joshua also fitted it to Finn and it fits him like a glove. And it is an adjustable tree so if big boy gets bigger we can widen it a bit.

I should probably start playing lotto or something. This horse biz is NOT cheap. But Finn is SO CUTE. Gah I love him so…guess that is a good thing?

Glad the shopping part was over with quickly! And that you found something you both like. Even if it was expensive. Shiny has a Custom saddlery saddle. It looks like the one you got but is a dual flap. Doesn’t look like they make it anymore. It’s pretty ancient! I’ve liked it though. She needs a new one sadly. But we’re going to shim this one along for a bit longer until I can find one that fits!
