As Emma already pointed out it was a fantastic day to meet up with friends. Everyone and their brother had the same idea though, it was busy!
But first off, Batty(Sarah’s horse) and Remus were a match made in heaven. I think they reminded me of these guys honestly. Actually both Sarah and I are pretty grumpy and are well matched as well. HA so a good team all the way around! π

Remus was very good. He was looky at the bicycles (he really hates them) but all the bicyclists were very polite and stopped and even a few kids were polite and asked us which direction they had to go.
And he went over the wooden bridge (of course he was following most of the time) and the covered bridge and of course any water crossings we went thru he loves water.
I don’t think I had the reins in contact except when a bike or a black pile on the trail or whatever spooked him. Otherwise I had the buckle. I forgot how nice it is to trail ride him. He truly is a pleasure. Tho when he saw the black stuff (Plastic, sandbags who knows) after being up Batty’s butt for so long he did do his trademark Quarter Horse spin and almost unloaded me. I mean I was in the air he spun so quick. WHEW I scrambled back on without falling off. How embarrassing would that have been?
The two OTTBs marched ahead a bit and the QHs marched to their own beat. As they do. Remus and Batty were well matched in speed and grumpiness. Punky and Charlie were great too(and not grumpy). It was a great foursome since I have been out with other Thoroughbreds and been left in the lurch way back with slowpoke Remus. This was a great day and I want to do it again.

I was so sore though after doing all that and riding the day before. I also rode in my casual boots being lazy and I was fine in them but do like my regular boots better. So my feet hurt a bit from being in the stirrup so long. But the getting off process which usually hurts the bejezzus out of me was not that bad. YAY for not being crippled for once.

It was a fabulous day with fabulous people (Emma I hope I didn’t offend Amy, I do think I let out an F Bomb when Remus spun, OOPS).Β Great day out! Even Remus approved. It was quite funny Charlie did look for jumps as if we were going to the trail that led out to cross country. I think Remus thought for one hot second that was going to happen then went nope and settled onto his shuffle trail gait. What a great day!

So much fun going out on trails with friends! Silly Remus for spooking at the black bags π Good thing your ninja skills were on point that day and you stayed on! Plus cracking up at your hairless squirrel!! ??? Maybe itβs a genetic thing?

Ha so much fun! I went on a trail ride with a 30yr old TB, a 19yr old QH and my 6yr old (at the time) was like a 1/4 of a mile behind them I swear lol. Amber was ambling along like “wait, guys!” and those two oldies (but they loved the trails) were powering ahead of her! It was quite amusing lol. But hey I love those really easy trail ponies! I don’t mind slow and steady. So glad you had a lot of fun!

lol i love the video!!! and i love that Remus liked to stay back just long enough that he could zoom forward and jump the water lol! also i totally expected charlie to be way lazier – he’s usually not much for marching on the trail. but idk, sometimes he’s emotional lol. still tho, what a fun day and what a good group of horses! i love that they were all so chill with everything (aside from those suspicious black lumps on the trail lol…)

Sounds like a lovely day! I would enjoy trail riding on a horse like Remus (minus the spin!). I’m not sure I could even get Jamp to enter the woods let along walk through them!
