Sad News, Remus Update, and Luna Update

Salty

First off, Salty had to be put to sleep on Monday. Her health had been declining and she finally ran out of bounce backs. For recap: 2 er visits, multiple xrays, scans, bloodwork, vet visits, medicine, special food, etc. Usually she would have one or two bad days then be fine for weeks. This time she just seemed to be fading away. She was still eating but vomiting some days, falling over others. Her heart rate was so slow she would just fall over at times and we think her bp was tanking too. It was a bad weekend and on Monday am I made the appt. She has been with us about a year I think and I don’t even want to tell you how much I spent on this foster fail. But she was a wonderful dog and I miss her constantly. But it was the right thing to do and the right time to do it. When the vet tech and vet are crying while they are comforting you and your dog you know it is a good dog.

in better days (actually only a couple weeks ago)

She is pain free now and slipped away peacefully in my arms. The whole syringe didn’t even go in her (I told the vet to stop and check her heart and she had indeed passed).

Remus

Gross sorry

Bug update. HORSE FLIES NOT GNATS. WTF it is April it is not that hot. WTF. I have slathered him from ear to asshole with swat, diaper cream, some clay stuff I got from TSC and whatever else I can put on there.

The vet put him on Zyrtec and some SMZs and he seems much better now. But horse flies? In April? In coolish weather. UGH She also got two large beans when she cleaned his sheath. Poor guy

I have been putting him in the heat of the day and it seems to be helping. Hot house flower that he is!!

Luna

And finally Luna. Luna got shoes on her front to help with her soreness and hopefully will start training in earnest now. Fingers crossed. She is doing well and being a big girl there.

That is the update for now. Hope everyone is having a good week (or at least a better week than me!)

  1. I am so sorry for your loss of an amazing pupper. And for Remus’s current gnat dilemma. I keep waiting till I have to throw my horse back on Zyrtec, she broke out last August with the bugs. We were chatting about it last week, my friends horse has asthma and this is her worst time, another horse in the barn has a problem come june/july and her eyes get itchy so she gives herself an eye ulcer every year if shes not on zyrtec, mine breaks out in hives come August/September. Go Luna!!! Glad she’s taking to big girl work very well.

  2. I am so so sorry about Salty ❤ No matter how long or short, our pets become a part of us ❤

Poor Remus! That looks so uncomfortable. We've gotten a whole host of flies here and it isn't even as hot as it usually is, either. I'm glad Luna is doing well! She's looking like such a big girl!

  3. Oh I am so sorry about Salty. You did the best for her though, and she got to know ALL the love her last year with you. What a lucky pup!

Ugh, poor Remus! That looks uncomfortable buddy! Eros is living on Benadryl this spring too. He commiserates!

Luna looks SO GOOD! All grown up! Can’t wait for the next update from her!
