Finn’s vet visit went well. Except for the fact that every vet that was there had to yell at him one time or another since every time they were working on a horse in the aisle way he thought they should be paying attention to HIM!
They managed to get him sutured in the mid am time frame so I went to pick him up around 3 pm. And my nonhorsey coworker has now started calling Finn: FrankenFinn and I am afraid it may stick as a name (Stitches pics way down so as not to make anyone but me sick if they dont want to see it!) HA
Let’s not discuss how much I had to pay to release him back to myself. I thought for a second of leaving him there! Also there is a LOT OF STUFF IN THIS BAG.

Before that I was frantically asking around for a place to put him at when I saw that he had to be on stall rest for 2 weeks! EGADS! He also has meds three times daily and bandage changes every 2-3 days. It is a LOT.
He could have stayed where he was but no one is around from like early am to evening and I really could not trust him to not injure himself again with no one having eyes on him.
SO I threw myself on Laura’s mercy and asked if Finn could come to the training barn. She is full but she was wonderful and said bring him on. I cannot state enough how much I appreciate this and also I cannot state enough how freaking STRESSED I am in with all this going on.
So the first night he stayed in with his buddies at the original place then I came on Weds am to move him to Bushel Barns..

Yes they said strict stall rest. But I had to weigh the choices and I chose rather than locking Finn into a tiny stall for 2 weeks we would give him access to the small paddock attached to his stall as long as it is not wet/raining etc.

Him is a big boy as you see! I feel him being able to move a bit will only help heal as long as he behaves. So far he is behaving.
I hand grazed him a bit after his bandage change yesterday and he was a good boy.

Speaking of bandage changes let’s just talk how much stuff has to go around that big ass foot!! OMG I may have to buy stock in Walgreens (I have plenty of vet wrap but that is it LOL)
Okay for those squeamish go no further. I am going to share his sutures before we changed his bandage. You have been warned
Are you sure you want to scroll farther down??

Before bandage change (he was hard on that bandage LOL)
And now…..drum roll please

DISGUSTING. I did warn you. Over all let’s just pray this all heals. I have my doubts.
SO now that I made you lose your breakfast (or lunch or dinner depending on where you live) anyone want to guess the vet bill??
Happy Weekend!!
